ZF Aftermarket showcases ZF [pro]Tech support platform for workshops
ZF Aftermarket used Automechanika Johannesburg 2026 as a platform to demonstrate how technology, technical support and product expertise can help workshops keep pace with the increasingly complex demands of modern vehicle repairs.
One of the company's key focus areas at this year's exhibition was ZF [pro]Tech, a workshop support programme that provides technicians with free access to technical fitting instructions and original equipment technical bulletins.
According to Jacques van der Lely, Sales Lead for Passenger Car Products at ZF Aftermarket South Africa, the platform is designed to make valuable technical information more accessible to independent workshops and technicians.
The programme provides practical support to workshops by helping technicians access manufacturer-level information that can improve repair quality, reduce fitting errors and increase workshop efficiency.
Supporting workshops with technical expertise
Alongside the ZF [pro]Tech platform, the company showcased a range of aftermarket products aimed at the passenger vehicle sector.
Products on display included clutches, shock absorbers, transmission components, service kits and products from the TRW braking portfolio. The company focused specifically on passenger vehicle applications during the exhibition, with commercial vehicle products not forming part of the display.
As modern vehicles become increasingly sophisticated, access to reliable technical information has become a critical requirement for workshops looking to maintain service quality and remain competitive.
ZF believes programmes such as ZF [pro]Tech can play an important role in helping independent workshops keep up with evolving vehicle technologies and repair procedures.
Strengthening relationships within the aftermarket
While ZF Aftermarket is a familiar exhibitor at Automechanika events globally, the company views the Johannesburg exhibition as more than simply a product showcase.
Van der Lely explained that the event provides valuable opportunities for engagement with workshops, industry stakeholders and organisations across the aftermarket sector.
“We see ourselves as a strategic partner into MIWA. Automechanika also provides us with brand awareness for our brands among visitors attending the show,” he said.
The exhibition also allows the company to engage directly with customers, gain insights into market needs and strengthen relationships throughout South Africa's independent repair sector.
Interactive engagement at the exhibition
To encourage visitor participation during the three-day exhibition, ZF Aftermarket hosted a series of daily prize giveaways.
Visitors who spent time engaging with company representatives at the stand were entered into prize draws featuring a variety of products, including electronic component cleaning kits, cooler boxes, chairs, caps and portable speakers.
The initiative provided an opportunity for attendees to learn more about the company's products and technical support offerings while interacting with industry experts.
Growing across South Africa and Africa
According to Van der Lely, one of the company's key achievements has been the continued expansion of its aftermarket presence within South Africa.
Despite global economic pressures and rising fuel costs affecting businesses across the automotive sector, ZF Aftermarket has focused on maintaining competitive pricing while supporting customers with quality products and technical services.
Van der Lely noted that the company's ambitions extend beyond the local market.
“Our responsibility is not only in South Africa but to continue to grow our portfolios and brands throughout the whole African region,” he said.
As the African automotive aftermarket continues to develop, ZF Aftermarket sees technical support, training and access to high-quality replacement parts as key drivers of future growth across the continent.
