South African motorists are set to experience cutting-edge automotive technology as Changan prepares for its local launch. The brand, previously marketed as Chana, returns with an impressive portfolio spanning traditional petrol engines to fully electric powertrains.
The lineup includes the Alsvin sedan, CS75 Pro SUV available in five and seven-seat configurations, and the innovative Hunter range. Most notably, the Hunter REEV represents the world's first range extender electric bakkie, combining electric driving benefits with traditional fuel security.
This groundbreaking system employs a small petrol engine purely as a generator, maintaining battery charge whilst delivering over 1,000km range. South African buyers gain electric vehicle advantages including silent operation, instant torque delivery, reduced emissions, and advanced features, whilst eliminating range anxiety concerns.

The flagship Deepal S07 showcases Changan's technological prowess through its 15.6-inch rotating infotainment display, adjustable by 15 degrees for optimal viewing. Advanced features include Intelligent Gesture Recognition Control, allowing occupants to manage music, calls, and photography through simple hand movements.
Additional innovations comprise 40W wireless fast charging, augmented reality head-up display projecting navigation and speed data directly onto the windscreen, and comprehensive Advanced Driver Assistance Systems across the range.
"South Africans shouldn't have to choose between affordability and smart technology," explains Jameel SA Country Manager Marinus Venter. "At Changan, both value and surprising features arrive standard. Our vehicles offer intuitive tech experiences, designed with local driving conditions and lifestyle habits in mind."
Changan's approach emphasises making sophisticated technology accessible and practical for everyday South African driving conditions.
