Supavolt Energy Solution, a trusted name in battery technology, made its presence felt at Automechanika Johannesburg 2024, showcasing its cutting-edge battery solutions and unique business model. The company, which has been the sole distributor of Supavolt batteries in South Africa for seven years, is focused on expanding its reach by connecting with businesses interested in importing or franchising.

“This event presents an opportunity to grow our brand and show people what Supavolt is all about, we offer powerful, reliable and affordable batteries,” says Karin Barnard, an exhibitor at the event and a Supervolt representative.

Supavolt batteries, manufactured in Turkey since 1976, have a 50-year legacy of quality. The company exports to over 100 countries across five continents, and its Cape Town and Midrand warehouses serve as the hub for its growing customer base in South Africa. “We cater to everyone, from mechanical workshops to big transport and logistics companies. Our model even allows customers to rebrand our batteries, which is a game-changer for businesses looking to build their own identity,” Barnard explains.

This year, Supavolt added Enhanced Flooded Battery (EFB) technology to its range, expanding beyond its starter, premium and AGM car batteries. “EFB technology is for customers looking for longer-lasting, cost-effective batteries. It’s the future for heavy-duty use and advanced vehicles, and we are proud to bring this innovation to market,” Barnard says.

The company offers batteries for diverse needs, from automotive and gel batteries to those used for mining machinery and heavy-duty equipment. Supavolt has already secured partnerships with large players such as Battery HQ Group and battery clinics, reinforcing its position in the industry.

Despite the successes, the company has faced challenges, including increased import duties this year. “Duties have increased from 15% to 30%, which hit us hard,” Barnard admits. However, the company chose to support its customers instead of passing the burden directly onto them. “We did not want to knock them as hard as we were hit. We strive to run our business with our hearts, keeping the balance right,” she says empathetically.

The event's highlight was signing new customers and receiving positive feedback about Supavolt’s affordability and quality. “Our batteries are powerful, durable and come with warranties that match the best in the industry, all at a more affordable price,” Barnard emphasises.

As Supavolt gears up for 2025, the focus is on growth and market penetration. “We are hoping for more market coverage, securing more customers and continuing to provide the most affordable, high-quality batteries,” Barnard says in closing.

Supavolt’s presence at Automechanika Johannesburg 2024 was more than just an exhibition. It was a statement of the company’s commitment to empowering businesses and consumers alike with reliable and innovative energy solutions. With its forward-thinking approach, Supavolt is poised for even greater success in the coming year.
