Mazda Southern Africa has announced that Bonite van der Merwe will become its new Managing Director from 1 October 2025. She currently leads Operations Sales and Service and has been with the company since its establishment as an independent sales organisation in 2014.
Her appointment comes as Craig Roberts steps down after eight years at the helm. Roberts will be moving on to take up a role in a non-automotive industry.
Van der Merwe brings extensive experience from her 11 years in leadership roles within Mazda SA, including Finance Manager and Head of Finance and Corporate Affairs. A qualified Chartered Accountant, she has been closely involved in shaping the organisation’s strategy and growth.
“Experience across all areas of the Mazda SA Business, as well as a strong commitment to Mazda’s Customer Centric and Human Centric values, will stand her in good stead to lead Mazda’s Business in the SA Market,” says Roberts.
Mazda SA has expressed optimism about its future, pointing to its upcoming vehicle launches such as the all-new Mazda CX-5. The brand also continues to highlight customer-focused services, including its Unlimited Mileage Warranty and Courtesy Service Vehicle Programmes.
