Mahle, a global leader in automotive components, is one of the prime exhibitors at Automechanika Johannesburg 2024, which is currently taking place at Nasrec.

The company operates in South Africa primarily through its Aftermarket and Engine Systems divisions, which provide automotive part supply, aftermarket services, manufacturing and distribution, and thermal management solutions.

According to Junior van Wyk, Sales and Marketing Manager, Mahle participated in Automechanika Johannesburg on two previous occasions but was slightly disappointed with the visitor to exhibitor ratio at the time.

“One has to keep in mind that to set up a stand like this costs in the vicinity of R200 000. This is a substantial amount of money that could be applied very effectively on a social media campaign or some other promotion. Therefore we have high expectations for this year’s Automechanika Johannesburg,” said Van Wyk.

Van Wyk says they were encouraged this year by the mammoth effort Messe Frankfurt made to attract more visitors from across Africa.

It is especially important for Mahle to gain grassroots information from visiting businesses about which of their products are needed in which areas.

“Since we follow a B2B model, networking is a primary goal for us. We do collect a lot of information from our distributors, but gaining market information directly from businesses is an exciting and valuable prospect,” explained Van Wyk.

Very exciting news from the company, which is based in Kempton Park, is that they now also have a local warehousing facility in Pomona.

Automechanika Johannesburg 2024 runs from 19 to 21 November.
