Since 2024, a new kid on the block, HALO, has been adding its expertise in the fight for the interests of the motor body repairer (MBR) industry.
HALO, an independent NPC, was established by seasoned MBR industry professionals with the sole focus of restoring the balance of power between MBRs and their trading partners, especially insurers.
"HALO is structured to deliver very clear benefit to members. Historically, and I have been part of the history and carried my share of the 'water', organisations got involved in so many different industry-related issues, most of which, in my view, delivered little or no direct benefit to their members. After all, why would an MBR pay good money to belong to an organisation and receive little or no direct benefit to his/her business other than a badge on the wall? Besides this, HALO believes that the time to enforce membership of any kind is over – each organisation that purports to represent its members needs to earn that right, not be gifted it," said Managing Director Richard Green.
"HALO has a laser focus on issues that directly affect members' businesses on aday-to-day basis – these issues, as we have identified them, speak to operationalmeasures within the MBR businesses that can deliver direct and almost immediatebenefit," continued Green.
"HALO directors are all industry leaders in their own right. This allows ourmembership, via our simple but efficient communications systems, to get answersand/or advice on any aspect of our industry – or any challenge they may havespecific to their business. Also, because of the directors' 'standing' in the industry, we have access to all insurer business partner leaders, which facilitates quick andefficient resolution to challenges," concluded Green.

According to Green, HALO's covenant with its members is therefore:
