Glasurit has been named the official paint provider for the WorldSkills Global Skills Challenge, which will take place in Wollongong, Australia, from 24 to 28 June 2026.
The appointment highlights the brand’s continued support for vocational training and its commitment to helping shape the next generation of automotive refinish professionals.
During the competition, contestants will work with Glasurit products as they demonstrate the precision, colour matching, efficiency and environmental awareness expected in modern refinishing. The challenge is designed to mirror the standards of today’s workshops, giving participants the opportunity to perform in conditions that reflect the realities of the trade.
Glasurit has worked with WorldSkills for many years at both national and international level, seeing skills competitions as an effective way to inspire young people, strengthen professional standards and encourage careers in automotive repair. Kirsten Dodd, Head of Marketing for Glasurit ANZ, said WorldSkills showcases the highest levels of technical ability, innovation and craftsmanship.
She said that by supporting the Global Skills Challenge in Wollongong, Glasurit is investing directly in the future of the sector, giving young refinish technicians access to high-quality products, training and technology as they prepare for WorldSkills International in Shanghai, China, in September.
Trevor Schwenke, CEO of WorldSkills Australia, said the organisation was pleased to welcome Glasurit as the official paint provider for the 2026 event in Wollongong. He added that the partnership would help competitors demonstrate their abilities using products that meet the expectations of the industry.
The Global Skills Challenge will bring together leading competitors from across the world and underline the growing importance of skilled trades in an industry increasingly shaped by advanced processes and more sustainable repair methods.
Glasurit’s involvement in Wollongong is part of a wider commitment to skills development, with the company also confirmed as the global paint partner for WorldSkills International 2026. The decision strengthens its standing as a long-term supporter of training and excellence in the collision repair sector.
By aligning competition conditions with the demands of professional bodyshops, the partnership gives entrants direct experience of systems and processes used by high-performing repair businesses around the world. That connection between competition and industry practice is expected to play an important role in preparing competitors for the global stage.
