When hundreds of Suzuki Jimny owners converge on South Africa's Western Cape this September, they'll be demonstrating more than just their passion for off-roading, they'll be celebrating the enduring reliability of vehicles that have stood the test of time.

The Jimny Gathering 2025, scheduled for 25 to 28 September at the Louvain Guest Farm in the Outeniqua Mountains, expects to welcome nearly 800 participants driving everything from vintage SJ models to modern Jimnys. Many of these compact 4x4s boast impressive service histories, with some still running strong after decades of adventures.

This year's event features an ambitious Guinness World Record attempt for the most vehicles closing their doors simultaneously – a feat that requires precision engineering and well-maintained door mechanisms across hundreds of vehicles.

"We're expecting close to 800 Jimny, LJ, SJ and Samurai models from across South Africa," says Brendon Carpenter, Brand Marketing Manager at Suzuki Auto South Africa. The diverse age range of participating vehicles highlights the model's reputation for longevity and straightforward maintenance.

Event MC Schalk Bezuidenhout, a comedian and Jimny owner, describes the record attempt: "A synchronised Jimny door slam. So polish your hinges, fill your tank and come join the action."

The gathering celebrates not just off-road capability, but also the practical engineering that has made the Jimny a favourite among enthusiasts who value vehicles built to last. Custom builds and restoration projects will be on display, showcasing the creativity that emerges when reliable foundations meet passionate ownership.
