Automechanika Frankfurt's Innovation Awards have reached a new milestone in 2026, with an international jury selecting 47 finalists from a record 185 submissions.
The high level of participation reflects the rapid pace of change across the global automotive aftermarket, where companies continue investing in smarter, more sustainable and increasingly connected technologies. The shortlist was confirmed following a jury meeting in Frankfurt on 21 July, with the winners scheduled to be announced during Automechanika Frankfurt on 8 September 2026.
This year's judging panel included automotive specialists from Australia, Europe, South Africa, Türkiye, and North and South America. The evaluation process was supported by independent assessments from Dr Gerhard Angerer and Dr Andreas Schlegel, Managing Director of the Fraunhofer autoMOBILproduktion Alliance.
Entries were assessed on a wide range of criteria, including technical innovation, cost-effectiveness, customer value, functionality, aftermarket relevance, durability, safety, environmental performance and resource conservation.
The 2026 Innovation Awards cover ten categories representing key areas of development within the automotive aftermarket. These include Body & Paint, Sustainable Drive Solutions, Data, Connectivity & Cybersecurity, Smart Workshop & Service Solutions, Advanced Parts & Vehicle Technologies, Car Care, Cleaning & Detailing, Smart Accessories & Lifestyle, Commercial Vehicle & Fleet Innovation, AI Solutions & Digitalisation, and the newly introduced Circular Economy & Remanufacturing category. A separate Green Award will also recognise the product judged to make the strongest contribution to sustainability.
In the Body & Paint category, the shortlisted innovations include SmartBoxBlower Auto Pilot from CARTEC Autotechnik Fuchs, AI-REVOLUTION from Sehon innovative Lackieranlagen, Superior WOW Process from BASF Coatings, and Battery Hand Puller from Telwin S.P.A. BASF Coatings has also received a Green Award nomination for its Superior WOW Process.
The winners will be announced during a gala ceremony on the AMBITION stage in Festhalle, Hall 2, at 17:00 on 8 September. From 9 September, all shortlisted and winning products will be exhibited in the Innovation4Mobility area in Hall 3.0, while winning companies will present their technologies on the adjacent stage on 10 September.
According to Dr Gerhard Angerer, digitalisation continues to drive major advances across the aftermarket, while artificial intelligence and circular economy principles are becoming increasingly important catalysts for innovation.
Dr Andreas Schlegel said this year's entries demonstrate how the industry is moving beyond individual products towards integrated solutions that combine software, connected data, artificial intelligence and sustainability to deliver greater value throughout the automotive ecosystem.
